| Navy Pier Woman | April 4, 2009 @ 12:51pm | I took this image of this lady who I met only for an instant. Navy Pier last weekend was absolutely packed. I saw this lady, who was a janitorial staff heading towards the elevator...waiting for the elevator to show up. I ran, asked her if I could take her picture, snapped a shot and that was it. I feel strange as I don;t even know her name. No major connection per se.. it was all too quick...but I did tell her she was beautiful and her eyes lit up for an instant. I am thankful for her for allowing me to shoot her image. Usha

To me this picture has a lot of connection because of the eyes. Sometimes a connection doesn't need a word or a name...
Interesting on the story. I think where the connection comes from is that sometimes people ignore the dirty jobs (sic!) and the people that do them. So when someone comes around and does pay attention it makes all the difference.
Notice that for someone working janitorial she has quite a bit of make-up and ear-rings and the like. Another hint.
Yesterday at lunch I had a similar sight. A crew of construction workers in all their gear behind me in the line. One of them was a fairly petite woman, obviously working a rough job on the high rise that's going up next door. Yet, she had her iPhone and well painted finger nails. Contrasts in society.

| April 4, 2009 @ 6:40pm | She is so beautiful and seems to be expert at make-up. She could be a model. This is a wonderful portrait, Usha. I wish for her sake that you could have connected with her in a way that you could have made other images of her and given her some.
