Nice shot!
I especially like the way the reflections become reminiscent of ice crystallized on a windowpane. Perhaps a composite with a "fire and ice" theme would be fun.

Outstanding Ned,

I am going to the Klangwolke in Austria (Festival of light and sound held over the Danube) in early September.

This is the ultimate kind of shot I would like to come away with, can you offer any advice?

my secrets...July 7, 2009 @ 9:38am
get a long exposure to get the background...between fireworks as the long exposure will blow out
shoot lots of individual bursts
composite in Photoshop...select with marquee tool...drop in place and blend mode lighten
select top...flip vertical...use smudge/blur tool to acheive accurate reflective look
Now I am EXPOSED!!!

Gee whiz! I'm so impressed! With both the composite itself and your method for achieving it!

Thanks for that great advice Ned, I really appreciate it, and the thought process behind it has given me a lot more confidence as capturing lots of bursts maybe something I can do!Wink

Also Danny...capture background and bursts with same lens, zoom level so as to keep perspective...if you shoot bursts with tighter zoom you will likely have to resize to look right...all mine were shot with 24mm-70mm at 24mm

Thanks for that extra nugget Ned,

I will jot these points down for reminders in my book, so I will have them with me when taking those shots in September... the theme for this years klangwolke is Armageddon so I bet there will be pretty big fireworks to cover that theme.
