Island In The NightNovember 22, 2008 @ 11:22am
Hi, my first post and I thought I would just jump right in.

I didn't have a tripod along for this shot so I wound up setting the camera on a sign. One of these days I'm going to have to drop back by there and use a tripod and lower ISO but until then..

I hope you enjoy it. C&C welcome as always

Mike - Welcome. I like the island in this, with the darkness it really is set aside as being alone. Even without a tripod you held it very well.

Welcome to TME, Mike. This composition makes the small island look like it is floating into a very dark night and possibly heading for the distant lights.
The mood I get from this is one of desolation and a fear of the unknown.

Welcome, Mike. Your first posted image is a doozy. It would look totally alone, except for the light on the opposite shore. I like that this street light creates more depth to the image.

Question: How did you light the trees? Car headlights - or did you use one of those 1-million candle power lights and do some light painting?

Hi everybody and thanks!

This was taken in the Olive Branch, Ms city park about an hour after dark one Sunday night last summer. The light is from the last softball game of the night. I'd like to take credit for it but I simply took advantage of circumstances. One of the benefits of taking your camera where ever you go.

Serendipity is a good thing.Smile
