| My 1st post here | August 24, 2009 @ 12:26am | Introducing myself. I've been doing wildlife, mostly birds, for the last few years. And I'm signed up for the Big Bend workshop. So I thought I'd post these.

| August 24, 2009 @ 7:08am | Hey RoyT and welcome to TME!
What a great first post, my favorite is the follow the leader, the calmness of the water, the crystal clear reflections, the two different ways the beaks break the water and the way the lead bird has the wings spread absolutely fantastic!
Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W. |

| August 24, 2009 @ 8:49am | Roy, welcome to the community! What great shots. My fav is also the Follow the Leader! It almost looks like the 2nd gull is going the opposite direction - but then everything else in the image tells me this perception is wrong. And so my eye/brain connection has to make an adjustment based on logic rather than form. I also love the simplicity of the whole image, even tho there's lots of details.
I can hardly wait to see more of your work.

Flo, those are black skimmers, a little different critter than a gull, although you do see them in the same environments. |

| August 25, 2009 @ 11:00pm | | I really sorry to have erased the image that was commented on the most, but I've just found out that someone's tried to poach it from another board where I'd shown it. I'm not sure if they could do that here, but I've decided to "be safe rather than sorry". I'm not a professional, but I've had images stolen before. |

| August 26, 2009 @ 8:17am | Roy, what a shame! How about putting a copyright watermark across the skimmer image and reposting?
Yes, images can be poached from this board, too. All I have to do is put the cursor anyplace on the image, click and hold and drag to my desktop. I have an Apple laptop.

| August 26, 2009 @ 9:25am | OK, got that straightened out and replaced the image.
Guess I overreacted a bit. The "poacher" didn't quite realize what he was trying to do was a major "NO NO".
Last night, that image was selected by my local camera club for a regional contest, the Gulf States Camera Club Council. Then I get home and find someone I don't know has downloaded it AND wants the RAW file. What a night. |

Well, I suppose they get points for sheer gall. Assuming it isn't National Geographic calling (and it isn't!), send them a URL that takes them to a virus-laden Russian website and tell them they can collect the raw file by clicking on the URL.
OTOH, I admire their taste. That really is a superior capture.

| September 2, 2009 @ 10:30pm | #1 is a nice capture. Good focus.
I like #2. Great capture. It reminds me of a shot I got a few years ago I’ll post in a minute.
#3. Out of focus, and not enough contrast.
