Avatars don't update??December 27, 2008 @ 8:34pm
I tried this morning and again tonight to upload an Avatar and continue to get this message: "Avatar Submitted!

All required fields were not filled or correctly formatted. Please go back and ensure the information requested is complete and accurate."

I'm trying to upload a 600x600 jpg file from my computer and also tried from my Smugmug account. Is there some ADMIN rights needed to do the upload or what am I missing?

Thanks,
Murry

Hi Murry,

No admin rights needed. Submissions are rolling in fine so far. I just tested the form again with no issues. How large is the file you are trying to upload?

"Avatar submitted" sounds like it worked. What happens next? Are we waiting for them to be approved and then they will show up in the list of available avatars?

Thanks!

If I've done a submission before and the submission took, please forgive me. I keep getting the same error message that Murry noted earlier and don't actually know if any submission has actually succeeded. Hmmmm. I think I had everything ready, filled out and submitted.

600x600 pixels at 72. Jpg about 550KB,

Janet Petty

Go ahead and play with the images. I would ask that when you post them on other sites (such as Flikr, Photobucket, etc.) that you credit my photography. I would do the same for you! Other than that, I'm E Z T D B W.

Hi Janet.

My avatar upload worked. What JPG compression level did you select? I used 7 or 8 and my file size is about 1/2 your file size (244K).

I believe that Murry said elsewhere that it worked for him when he submitted a smaller file.

My submission took finally but...January 7, 2009 @ 3:18pm
...it has never showed up in the list of avatars and it has been a couple weeks. I thought it was because of the holidays but still no show so I submitted it again today. This time I changed the file name to include "_MurryG" in it since I noticed that two of the three that have showed up had the sender's name in it. It seemed to accept it again this time so we'll see?????

According to Kel: "This post will be updated when the next batch of avatars are available."

So I think this means that she'll add another batch when a few more of us submit them. I've been thinking which of my images to use - but, but ... I have so MANY! Wink

AVATARS - Something New!January 27, 2009 @ 8:47am
Still only three community created avatars that I can see. I sure would like to use my Texas avatar that I created and updated soon to be a month ago. What is the problem or has the option been abandoned? I know I'm impatient but when I see an annoucement for a new feature I figure it is ready to use. Now I feel better having gotten that off my chest Smile

Murry, submit 2 more - that will make 3 new ones Maybe 3 is the minimum Kel wants to upload them?

So far, I'm not sure I have anything that's make a suitable avatar. I'm not in the mood to create one from scratch, tho. Right now, that is, lol.

Edit: I used two of my backgrounds and made avatars and they uploaded successfully. So maybe now Kel has enough to upload another batch.

It is fun to be able to "make our mark" a bit more unique, and to share it with others if they like. I notice the avatars are in different formats, so appreciate the re-sizing and processing time you put in to make them available for the community and Gallery. Thank you, Kel!

Thank you very much, Kel, for all your behind-the-scenes work. Being able to have our own avatars, or to choose from those other members have submitted is great.

Everything seems to work as it is supposed to, for me, Kel. Nice job in getting it all together. Another bonus for TME.
